Specialist Painting Group protective coatings division are approved applicators of modified epoxy intumescent passive fire protection.
Modified epoxy or thick film intumescent unlike thin film systems which are used to protect against cellulosic fires, are predominantly used in C4 and C5 environments and situations where hydrocarbon jet and pool fires would occur. These two component systems require specialist plural component equipment for application and are installed at higher film builds than a thin film system. Reinforced carbon fibre mesh is often used to hold the char within the PFP material in place.
Passive fire protection (PFP) plays an important part in maintaining a structures integrity under thermal duress. Steel elements can be protected for periods of up to three hours through the application of PFP.
Specialist Painting Group work very closely with Exova Warrington Fire where we support with the application of PFP systems that are being developed for future applications in the global market place.
