Volvo Footbridge

Specialist Painting Group Ltd were invited to represent VolkerLaser on behalf of Kier Highways, to remove the existing coating system from the A404 Volvo footbridge and replace with a specified, Highways approved, protective coating system. The method of abrasive blasting to remove the redundant coating system was utilised to achieve a visual cleanliness standard of BS EN ISO 8501-1, SA 2.5.

This six week project was carried out in Brentwood in Essex after the footbridge had been removed from the A404.  The work was carried inside an encapsulation in order to maintain the climatic conditions at the time of the application.

Highways England specified the requirements for the applied protective coating according to Highways specification Series 1900.

Independent coating inspection was provided by Hampshire based Paint Inspection Ltd.

Volvo Footbridge was successfully delivered on behalf of Volkerlaser in late 2019.
